Stay focused

Singleness of purpose is essential for success, no matter what may be one’s idea of the definition of success. —N. Hill

It’s Thursday, and it’s been a long week already at this point for me at least. So I think it’s always a strong reminder to be steadfast and focused on your the endgame. Sometimes a singleness of focus can be just what we need to make it through to the end. Often, when I begin my action plans I find that I have too many goals—which means when everything is a priority or point of focus—nothing is a priority. It’s at times like this that I became my own enemy and collapsed under the pressures I applied to myself. I created too wide of a focus. I wanted to eat healthier, be more active, perform better at work, speak a new language, and learn the secrets to the laws of success. Is it any wonder that after a week of trying to devote time to each goal, I failed at all of them?

Conquer one enemy at time. Take on too many and you will be conquered.

There’s nothing wrong with having multiple goals, but life has taught me to see in hindsight, however, that when I focus on one aim with all my effort I accomplish more. I don’t know if that holds true for others, but personal experience is often more influential in decision-making than learned knowledge. So this is one lesson I’ll continue to use, and it seems Hill agreed.
