“I’ve always found that when I look up toward the sky I find my spirits lifted.”
I couldn’t tell you why this practice works for me or anyone else, but it’s an ancient tradition that appears to work. I think it has more to do with our changed perspective than anything else.
When we look toward the sky, we can suddenly see in a wholistic and natural sense just how enormous the world truly is. Then, just as suddenly, we also recognize our smallness and our problems become less dire from this new vantage point.
This doesn’t mean to we must keep our heads in the clouds to be happy. Take the time to appreciate your unique perspective of life, and when you’re able, adjust that gaze and see how the world looks from a new perspective.
